Lebanon and Israel have agreed on a shortlist of countries that could provide troops to verify Hezbollah’s disarmament under a US-brokered agreement, a Lebanese official told Reuters. The US will select the country or countries from the list. Lebanon has rejected the use of private security firms for the verification process. The two sides have yet to agree on the next area for Israeli troop withdrawal, with another round of talks expected in early September.
