A distant family member is currently on assistance...but decided to buy himself a brand new $30k SUV. (He's too good to be seen in just any car, you understand...) Now he constantly bitches about the huge monthly payments, like maybe they were some unforeseen expense. He also has a wife who does elder care under the table, so she's been making huge money for years now, while he's complaining about the tiny amount he gets on SNAP. They are both getting on in age now (early 70s) and wifey seems shocked to learn that she isn't getting any Social Security or other benefits. They are a whole mess I could literally write an entire book about. 🤦
