Gary Neville and Gary Lineker are set to do battle across the world’s biggest streaming platforms.That’s because entertainment giants Disney+ have bought the rights to Neville’s Stick to Football brand in a multimillion-pound deal.Disney+ will stream 40 episodes of Neville’s Stick to Football this seasonGettyThe acquisition will see Disney+ again lock horns with rivals Netflix, who host Lineker’s Rest is Football.The deal itself will see Disney+ stream 40 episodes of Stick to Football this season, and will feature regular guests Neville, Jamie Carragher, Jill Scott and Ian Wright, to name four.In addition, there will be a new show, Stick to United, with Wayne Rooney, who will be joined by social content creator Mark Goldbridge.50 episodes of Stick to United have been commissioned.The news comes just months after Neville’s The Overlap acquired Goldbridge’s YouTube channels in early April.Goldbridge’s The United Stand channel had amassed 2.26 million subscribers at the time of acquisition, while That’s Football had 1.46 million subscribers.Both were bought by Neville and his company for an undisclosed seven-figure sum.“We’re immensely proud to be partnering with Disney+” Neville said.“It’s a partnership that expands our reach without compromising our identity.“What’s exciting is that we’re not changing who we are. Our community will continue to enjoy our content in exactly the way they always have through YouTube, while at the same time Disney+’s incredible global streaming audience will now be able to discover and enjoy it too.”Rooney will link up alongside Goldbridge for 50 episodes of Stick to United as part of the dealGettyWhat’s more, the move will see Rooney become a permanent feature on The Overlap.Disney+ have also bought the rights to a new documentary centred around the former Manchester United striker, titled The Real Rooneys.Meanwhile, Disney+ subscribers will still be able to watch Stick to Football via the official YouTube channel.There will be a delay in general release with Disney+ acquiring exclusive rights.However, the broadcaster will air an additional 20 episodes per year, which will be available exclusively via pay per view.Netflix’s deal with LinekerLineker signed a deal with Netflix last December, which saw the streamer carry his podcast The Rest is Football, featuring himself, Alan Shearer and Micah Richards, during the 2026 World Cup.Netflix streamed 40 episodes in total during the summer showpiece, which was won by Spain last month.Each episode featured in the daily top-10 of its run, with Netflix opting to continue the partnership into the domestic season.
