Gold: A Regression Channel From the 2022 LowGoldOANDA:XAUUSDKazimKarabacakI used the Regression Trend tool from the September 2022 low to today. The channel bands are the default two standard deviations from the channel mean. The number on the chart is Pearson's R, 0.93. Three things stand out. In January 2026, gold traded above the channel upper band. That price action sits outside two standard deviations. The fall after the January 2026 high stopped around 4,000 in July 2026. Gold never reached the channel lower band, and a wide gap between the July low and the channel lower band was still left. Gold now sits just under the channel middle line, testing the channel middle line from below. The horizontal line sits around the 2,070 level, the ceiling of the 2020 to 2022 range. Gold kept stopping at the 2,070 level and cleared the 2,070 level in 2024. The channel middle line separates the slow part of this trend from the fast part. A weekly close below the channel lower band would tell me this channel no longer describes the market. As long as gold stays above the channel lower band, the channel still describes the market, and the channel middle line stays the level I watch.
