Kasaragod Collectorate employee dies after reportedly consuming poison - The HinduPublished - August 09, 2026 11:06 pm IST - KASARAGODA 41-year-old woman employed at the Kasaragod Collectorate died at a private hospital in Kozhikode on Sunday (August 9), two days after she reportedly consumed poison.The deceased was identified as Ashalatha of Athirakuzhi in Chengala, a UD clerk with the Endosulfan Cell at the Collectorate. She reportedly drove to Chengala Cooperative Hospital around 2.30 p.m. on Friday (August 7) and sought medical assistance after informing the hospital authorities that she had consumed poison.Following preliminary treatment, she was transferred to a private hospital in Chengala and subsequently to a private hospital in Kozhikode as her condition was critical. She died around noon on Sunday.Women police personnel recorded her statement at the hospital.Her husband, Ajayakumar, who works in the Gulf, returned home on Saturday (August 8) after being informed of her hospitalisation. She is survived by her children, Yadukrishnan and Agnivesh. The Vidyanagar police are expected to arrive in Kozhikode on Monday (August 10) to conduct the inquest.
