Arsenal slap huge price tag on World Cup winner amid Real Madrid and Chelsea interest

Wait 5 sec.

Arsenal have reportedly placed a €90million (£77m) valuation on Martin Zubimendi, with both Real Madrid and Chelsea showing interest in the Spanish midfielder. The Gunners only signed Zubimendi from Real Sociedad last summer, and there is currently no indication that Arsenal are actively looking to sell the 27-year-old.However, following the arrival of Bruno Guimarães, speculation surrounding Arsenal’s midfield options has inevitably increased, and the latest reports suggest the club have now made their position clear should any of Zubimendi’s admirers decide to make a move.Arsenal reportedly value Zubimendi at €90millionAccording to Goal, Arsenal would require a fee of at least €90million (£77m) to consider allowing Zubimendi to leave the Emirates. That would represent a considerable increase on the fee Arsenal paid to bring the Spain international to north London and underlines the strong position the club are taking over his future.Real Madrid’s interest in Zubimendi has already been reported, while Chelsea have also been linked with a move for the midfielder. For now, however, interest is one thing and Arsenal being prepared to sell is another. The reported €90m figure suggests the Gunners are certainly not looking to make it easy for either club to sign their World Cup winning midfielder.(Photo by Diego Souto/Getty Images)Guimarães gives Arteta even greater midfield optionsBruno Guimarães’ arrival undoubtedly adds another high-quality midfielder to Mikel Arteta’s squad, but that does not necessarily mean Zubimendi has become surplus to requirements.Arsenal are preparing to compete on several fronts again this season, and Arteta will need significant strength and depth if the Gunners are to challenge for the biggest trophies.Having Guimarães and Zubimendi available could therefore be viewed as a considerable strength rather than creating an immediate need for Arsenal to choose between them. What is interesting about this latest report is Arsenal’s apparent valuation. With Real Madrid and Chelsea both credited with interest, €90m appears to be the price required even to bring Arsenal to the negotiating table.Whether either club is prepared to go anywhere near that figure remains to be seen. What do you think, Gooners? Would €90million be enough to tempt you into selling Zubimendi, or should Arsenal simply keep him and enjoy the midfield options they now have?Let us know your thoughts in the comments._____________________________________________________________________________________________ADMIN COMMENTSo here are some simple rules which I must insist commenters follow….You agree not to give any personal abuse to other Arsenal fans.
