Nasdaq 100: Breakout Holds Above 30,000US 100 IndexFX:NAS100Structure_ViewThe Nasdaq 100 has finally broken above the resistance area that capped price for most of the past week, pushing through 30,000 with a strong impulsive move. More importantly, price has not immediately fallen back into the previous range. That changes the technical picture. The 29,850–29,950 region repeatedly acted as resistance before the breakout. If buyers can now defend the same area as support, the move would represent a classic resistance-to-support transition and strengthen the case for further upside. The macro backdrop is also helping technology stocks. U.S. producer prices were flat in July, while recent consumer inflation data showed a moderation in headline inflation. Combined with weaker employment numbers, that has reduced expectations for another Federal Reserve rate increase in September and pushed Treasury yields lower. Rate-sensitive technology shares have benefited from the shift. Semiconductor and AI-related names have been particularly strong. Micron, Sandisk and other chip stocks helped lead Thursday’s advance, while the Nasdaq outperformed the broader market. Bullish Scenario As long as US100 holds above the former resistance zone around 29,850–29,950, the breakout structure remains intact. The first psychological objective sits around 30,200, while continued momentum could open the path toward the 30,500–30,600 region shown on the chart. The cleaner confirmation would be a shallow pullback followed by another bullish reaction above the breakout zone. Bearish Scenario The main risk is a failed breakout. If price falls back below 29,850 and begins trading inside the previous range again, the move above 30,000 would lose credibility and the probability of a deeper retracement would increase. For now, however, buyers have done what they needed to do: break resistance and establish price above it. The next question is whether they can defend the breakout. Would you buy the breakout here, or wait for a retest of 29,900 before looking for continuation?
