Kawempe Muslim Ladies FC will renew their quest for a place among Africa’s elite after being handed a challenging draw for the 2026 Caf Women’s Champions League Cecafa Qualifiers. The reigning Finance Trust Bank Fufa Women Super League champions have been drawn in Group B alongside Ethiopia’s Commercial Bank of Ethiopia (CBE) and Djibouti’s FC UJECO in the regional tournament that will be staged in Kigali, Rwanda, from August 21 to 31. With only one qualification slot available for the Caf Women’s Champions League finals, every match will carry enormous significance as East Africa’s leading clubs battle for the region’s sole ticket to the continent’s premier women’s club competition. The draw, conducted in Kigali, confirmed that matches will be played at Kigali Pelé stadium and the FERWAFA Technical Centre. For Kawempe, the qualifiers offer another opportunity to complete unfinished business. They return to the regional competition four years after making its maiden appearance in 2022, when it narrowly missed out on qualification for the continental finals. Despite falling short of their ultimate objective, the Ugandan champions left Ethiopia with an encouraging performance, defeating Tanzania’s Simba Queens 2-0 to finish third. That experience could prove invaluable this time. Since then, Kawempe have regained the Uganda Women Super League title and developed a squad that combines continental experience with youthful talent.
