Not only is it smaller, it’s also a soccer cleat, which are traditionally lighted and thinner than NFL cleats, and help create more power between the ball and the foot with better contact between them.Most NFL kickers will now wear a much longer, sharper cleat on their non-kicking foot in order to better “plant” the foot and minimize the chance of slippage, especially in rainy or snowy conditions.It’s difficult to pinpoint when exactly the nifty cleats trick became commonplace in the NFL.But Vinatieri was certainly one of its early practitioners, and now the trend is rife among kickers in the modern NFL.2026 Pro Football Hall of Fame enshrinementVinatieri is a legend in more ways than one.He was recently elected to the Pro Football Hall of Fame as part of the Class of 2026, and has chosen Colts owner Carlie Irsay-Gordon to present him at the enshrinement ceremony, which takes place on Saturday, 8 August in Canton, Ohio.Speaking about why he chose a representative of the Colts, and not the Patriots, Vinatieri said, “I love both organizations, I’ve got so many memories and so many great friends on both sides.“Living in Indy, what the Irsay family meant to me, Jim just meant the world bringing me into that organization, and Carlie I’m so excited watching her taking over her dad’s legacy.”Brady is now part of FOX Sports’ broadcasting line-upGettyBelichick, who is dating Hudson, is now the HC of UNCGettyIt’s safe to say that without his ingenuity, accuracy, nerve, and huge kicking leg, Brady’s Patriots legacy would be looked upon very differently to what it is now.As for Brady and Belichick, they would go on to spearhead the Patriots to three more Super Bowl victories after Vinatieri left the team before going their separate ways following the conclusion of the 2019 season. Brady departed for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 2020, and led the team to Super Bowl glory in his first season, making NFL history as he became the player with the most championships won in his career, while he was also the oldest ever quarterback (43) to start, play, win and be named the SB MVP.He would call time on his 23-year playing career two years later in 2022, cementing his legacy as the all-time greatest quarterback in the NFL, and swiftly transitioned into a broadcasting role with FOX Sports.
