One of Malta’s biggest festa spectacles is set to light up the skies tomorrow night as Mqabba’s Fireworks Spectacular returns on the eve of the Feast of Santa Marija.Taking place on 14th August at 9.30pm, the event will once again be headlined by the village’s world-famous 63-metre Tower of Light, which organisers say will feature an entirely new concept this year.The towering structure will be combined with around 10,000 fireworks shots, many of them synchronised to the music of Coldplay, creating a huge pyro-musical show that blends fireworks, music and visual effects.This year’s edition is also set to introduce brand-new 3D pyrotechnic effects, including a giant heart effect created using hundreds of firing positions spread across a large section of the site.The spectacle has been designed around four different performances, beginning with a fireworks display synchronised to music before moving into a showcase of traditional Maltese aerial fireworks.A massive grand finale will then take over the skies before the evening concludes with one of Malta’s most unique traditions: the mechanised Catherine Wheel displays, featuring moving pyrotechnic structures, some reaching up to nine metres in diameter.Visitors are also encouraged to explore Mqabba’s festa atmosphere before the show, with the village’s streets decorated with traditional banners, statues, illuminated facades and colourful street decorations ahead of the Santa Marija celebrations.The event has become one of the highlights of Malta’s summer festa calendar, attracting thousands of spectators every year eager to witness one of the island’s most ambitious fireworks productions.Will you be heading to Mqabba to watch the spectacle?•
