Woman gets hired at Victoria’s Secret. She can’t go to the toilet until 5:30 pm and one shift of humiliation pushes her to walk away: ‘starts yelling’

Wait 5 sec.

A woman has shared her experience working at Victoria’s Secret, saying the job lasted only two weeks but felt much longer because of how she was treated. The video was posted by creator Jamie Nicole, who goes by @thejamieedit on TikTok. In the TikTok video, Jamie Nicole said she took the job as a summer position after years of working as a barista in the food and beverage industry. She said she was excited to try retail work in a different setting. She said the first few shifts involved iPad training, followed by only two shifts of hands-on training with a coworker before she was expected to work on her own. The video has been viewed more than 731,000 times and received over 133,700 likes.  Employee says she was expected to work without knowing store layout Nicole said she picked up the register quickly, calling it “common sense.” She said trying on and fitting bras was fun, but by the end of her training, she did not know where anything in the store was located. She explained that the location was a combined Victoria’s Secret and Pink store. @thejamieedit i think it’s just my location but yeah #storytime #parttimejob #summerjob #victoriassecret #retailproblems ♬ original sound – jamie nicole She said she began adjusting after being assigned to put returned bras back in their place, but said her manager was already treating her poorly. She said the manager frequently pointed out mistakes and made her feel she could not do anything right. The frustration of feeling unheard by management can lead to dramatic exits, as seen when a Colorado woman quits in front of a room full of staff.  Nicole gave an example of a shift where she was placed alone in the store’s front room and told to greet customers and answer questions. When a customer asked about a bra location, she said she walked the customer to another room to find it. She said her manager was angry when she returned, saying she had not responded on the headset and was not allowed to leave her assigned room. Nicole said she never heard anything on the headset because it was broken. Victoria’s Secret’s troubles go beyond employee complaints, as a customer’s gift return led to an unexpected product inquiry.  She said this pattern continued, with her receiving little instruction and then getting blamed when she guessed incorrectly. She said she is “not that sensitive” or emotional about jobs, but the experience made her feel like an idiot. She described another shift where she stayed in the front room as instructed while the store got busier. She said coworkers who started after her were sent on breaks throughout the shift, while she was not.  She said she asked a coworker for the time and was told it was 5:30 pm, though she believed her shift started around 2 or 2:30 pm, meaning she had not had a break the entire time. She said when she brought this up to her manager, the manager replied, “You should have said something, why didn’t you say anything?” Nicole said employees were not allowed to have their phones during shifts, including in the break room, and said she had been reprimanded once for using her phone there. She described a following shift where she was assigned to the register and the Pink section. She said she began experiencing seasonal allergies and had to keep working the register while dealing with a runny nose.  She said she left briefly to blow her nose in the bathroom without notifying her manager, because the headset was not working.  “So I didn’t get to to tell my manager that I was going to the bathroom, but I literally was in there for probably 10 seconds before she starts yelling at me over the headset” According to Nicole, when she returned to explain, her manager did not let her speak and instead began yelling at her for not removing a security sensor from a perfume bottle, which she said she did not know was there. She said her manager was unaware she had left to blow her nose because she was not given a chance to explain. She said the manager only offered her a break after noticing she was close to tears. Nicole said she cried during her break and decided at that point she would not return. She said that after the shift, she drove to a Starbucks location where she had previously worked and was rehired immediately. She said she did not go back to Victoria’s Secret and stopped responding to contact from her managers there. Several viewers shared similar experiences in the comments section.
