There is nothing like a scuffle in training camp to signal that the NFL is truly back and well underway. It’s clear that he cares about the organization, and he showed that with his actions when he engaged in the heated altercation with Cousins – one of two that occurred during Friday’s practice.According to multiple reports, the two were separated by their teammates very quickly. While Cousins, stayed on the field to finish the drive, Crosby was sent to the sideline to cool down. “Those are two leaders of our team going at it, so that is part of camp,” new head coach Klint Kubiak said. “Obviously, if you fight in a game and throw a punch in game, then you’re out of the game. So we’ve got to be smart and treat it like a game.”Crosby won’t back down, even in practiceCrosby spoke out after practice to give his account and said, “Sh** I was just doing what I do. He didn’t like that. So he got what he got, it is what it is.”Per ESPN, Crosby was reportedly warned before training camp began about touching the quarterback. “When you get out there and bullets are flying, I’m not thinking about not finishing the play,” Crosby said prior to the start of camp, via ESPN. “That’s just not in my nature. That’s something I’ve been dealing with my whole career. What the Raiders don’t want, though, is the five-time Pro Bowler going full speed at their ageing, but hugely experienced, veteran signal caller and forcing Mendoza into the firing line right away. But at the same time, and on the other side of the ball, Crosby is well-known for being a player who gives 110 percent at all times, even in practice. Nonetheless, Raider tight end Michael Mayer loves the energy that Cousins has shown since his arrival to the team earlier this off-season. “We don’t want to be throwing punches, but I think on any padded day of camp, there’s going to be some tussles,” Mayer said. “That’s our starting quarterback right now, and you want him to defend your team and you want him to have some edge to him, which he does. He’s always had since the first day I met him when he came in here.“I don’t want him getting thrown out,” he added. “I don’t want him getting a flag. Nothing like that, but you’ve got to be able to defend yourself.”
