Compared to a lot of the CBs posted in this thread, her food shopping list isn't all that egregious. Some of the stuff is processed trash, but the entire list might cost $25 and could probably feed the family of 5 for 2-3 nights. As for the potatoes specifically, actual potatoes really only cost about a dollar more for a 5lb bag compared to the instant mash. The jump in quality AND quantity is 100% worth it to splurge on the real potatoes. That said, an argument could be made that the CB is just asking for the cheapest options available, which is humbling of them. However, because of the other posts and the fact that a grocery list isn't a binding document, it may well be completely up. She's not necessarily asking for groceries after all (nobody is going to go shopping for her), she's asking for money. The grocery list is a means to get people to give her that money.
