The condition book for the first weekend of racing at the new Belmont Park, encompassing the three days of racing between Friday, Sept. 18 and Sunday, Sept. 20 is now online.The opening day program will be anchored by the running of the $1-million GI Jockey Club Gold Cup, a 'Win and You're In' qualifier for the GI Breeders' Cup Classic at Keeneland on Oct. 31. In conjunction with and to celebrate the re-opening of Belmont following three years of reconstruction, NYRA will increase purses by an additional 50% on opening day.Maiden races will offer prize money of $150,000, both open and state-bred company, while allowance races will range between $157,500 and $162,000 for that program. The opening day card will be drawn Sept. 12.As previously announced, the Belmont Park fall meeting, which extends through Sunday, Dec. 6, will offer record purse money across all overnight categories. This will include purse increases in the open allowance category of a full 15% from $100,000 to $115,000. In addition, first-level optional-claiming events will be offered for $105,000 and second-level optional-claiming races will be offered for $108,000.Maiden special weight races will receive an 18% increase from $85,000 to $100,000, while New York-bred maiden special weights will enjoy a 25% boost from $80,000 to $100,000.The Belmont Park fall meet will feature 32 graded events among 72 stakes races worth $17.7 million in total purses.
