Maltese residents are being warned to stay alert as scam messages claiming to be linked to traffic contraventions and fines are once again making the rounds.The Local Enforcement System Agency (LESA) has warned about one message currently circulating which tells recipients that an outstanding traffic contravention has been recorded against their vehicle before directing them to a link to supposedly review the offence and make a payment.However, LESA has confirmed that the message did NOT come from the agency.Anyone who receives the message is being urged not to click the link and not to provide any personal or payment information.LESA stressed that its only official website is les.gov.mt.Similar messages should be deleted immediately without interacting with any links contained within them.With scam messages becoming increasingly convincing, LESA is also encouraging people to share the warning with friends and family to make sure others don’t fall for it.Have you received one of these messages recently?•
