Rodney Jones, the man who sued Sean “Diddy” Combs for sexual assault, is now being countersued by the rapper. Diddy has accused him of stealing and selling footage for 50 Cent’s Netflix documentary, Sean Combs: The Reckoning. He also claimed that the producer defamed him by repeating sexual assault allegations during the documentary. This countersuit claims that Jones (who filed his lawsuit against Diddy in February 2024, but many of the claims were dismissed in March 2025) stole footage by using his access to Diddy in 2022 during a trip to St. Barts. According to Combs’ countersuit, there were multiple videographers on that trip, including Jones, and it's been alleged that he stole a different cameraperson’s footage. In files obtained by Us Weekly, the countersuit claims: Mr. Jones devised a plan to exploit the trust provided to him by Mr. Combs during the St. Barths trip and to obtain leverage over Mr. Combs by stealing valuable footage that Mr. Combs and the videographers were collecting for Mr. Combs’s documentary. The countersuit also claims that while Jones was “supposed to stay in the staff villa,” he went on to the yacht first and “did not want to leave.” So, Combs’ team is claiming that Rodney Jones stole footage while on this trip. It also alleges that he illegally sold said footage to Netflix so it could be used in Sean Combs: The Reckoning, which is the docuseries 50 Cent released that’s available to stream with a Netflix subscription. Apparently, Diddy did not know the footage had been taken until this documentary came out, as the countersuit alleges: Mr. Combs did not become aware of Mr. Jones’s theft until December 2025 when it came to his attention that the Stolen Footage — footage Mr. Combs had created for use in his own forthcoming documentary — had been published by Netflix in a competing documentary. Back when the documentary was released, Diddy did complain about footage used in it and claimed it was “fundamentally unfair and illegal.” Combs called out the streamer back in December, claiming in a statement that the “‘documentary’ is a shameful hit piece.” The statement also alleged that “stolen footage” was used in the project. However, Netflix fired back, calling his claims “false” and stating that the footage featured was “legally obtained.” Overall, this ended up being a big brouhaha between him and 50 Cent around the time the project was released. All this is happening as Diddy is serving a 50-month sentence in federal prison. He was found guilty on two counts of transportation for prostitution. Notably, his conviction was because of allegations unrelated to Jones’ suit. The rapper will be released from prison early in 2028.
