I recently streamed A Toxic Love Story with my Netflix subscription, and boy, what a whirlwind story that was. It's certainly one of my favorite true-crime entries I've seen hit the 2026 TV schedule, especially for all the WTF-worthy twists and turns that happen throughout. I've seen so many great True Crime movies, and while I'm not sure I'd rank A Toxic Love Story among them, I will say it gave me something I've yet to see elsewhere. Mild spoilers ahead, but who would've thought we'd get a crime story about a "Disney Adult" in 2026?(Image credit: Netflix)Ian Being A "Disney Adult" Really Sends This Story Over The TopWhile some see being a "Disney Adult," also known as someone who remains obsessed with Disney even in adulthood, as derogatory, others wear it like a badge of pride. Deputy Marshall Ian Diaz was one of those people, with an unapologetic love for Disneyland that he shared with his ex-girlfriend, Michelle Hadley. Now, some may feel this is a superfluous detail to add to a true crime documentary, but it's entirely necessary in my opinion. For those who haven't seen A Toxic Love Story, Ian was such a big fan of Disneyland that he purchased a condo with his ex mainly so they could watch the fireworks show that happens outside of California Adventure every night. I think that's even a step beyond being a park influencer, personally, but also relevant to the story in that it shows how Ian can be hyper-fixated on certain things.(Image credit: Netflix)A Toxic Love Story Has So Many Other WTF Moments I Can't Get OverI don't want to ruin A Toxic Love Story for those who haven't seen it, but I can promise there are so many other things that are wild about this story. In fact, the story is so bizarre, I thought it was wrapping up only to pull up the timer and see there was still forty minutes left!More On True CrimeNetflix's My Father, The BTK Killer Changed How I Think About The Families Of Serial KillersThis is one of those True Crime stories with a lot of nuance, and one that stuck with me long after it happened. There are just so many layers and interviews that occur in this story, and the best conclusion I could reach by the end of it was that everyone involved had something to hide, and there's more hidden. I'm not sure there are enough questions left to answer to give A Toxic Love Story a sequel, but I would love an update down the line if there are any additional charges brought up. It's hard to speak about at length for those who still have yet to watch, but this is certainly one of those docs that may leave you wondering if justice was truly served. Watch for yourself as A Toxic Love Story is available to stream right now on Netflix. There are so many other upcoming movies and shows to watch on the platform, so be sure to renew and watch what's on the way if you didn't plan to already!
