A local has taken to social media to call attention to the amount of rubbish being left behind at Manoel Island, claiming repeated reports to the authorities have so far failed to resolve the issue. View this post on Instagram A post shared by Lovin Malta (@lovinmalta)In a video shared online, the local walks through parts of the island showing discarded charcoal, pieces of wood, tissues, plastic, glass and other waste scattered around the area.According to her, some of the mess is being left behind by people who visit Manoel Island every weekend to have barbecues but fail to clean up after themselves once they leave.She also raised concerns about what happens to the waste afterwards, claiming some of it eventually gets swept into the sea, turning what begins as litter on land into a wider environmental problem.The local said she had already contacted the relevant authorities about the situation on several occasions.“I reported, once, twice, three times,” she said, explaining that she ultimately decided to film and share the situation publicly after claiming that nothing had been done.Her footage shows rubbish scattered across the area, with the resident appealing for people using Manoel Island to take responsibility for what they bring with them and leave the area clean for others.Video: @girlvsglobe86•
