Marie Jones, who dedicated 55 years to the Thoroughbred industry and whose breeding program with late husband Aaron Jones produced several influential horses, passed away peacefully at her home Aug. 5, announced Taylor Made Monday. In a press release from the farm, of whom Jones was a longtime client of over 25 years, Taylor Made paid tribute to the horsewoman's impact not just on the industry, but the pivotal role the Joneses had played in the early success of Taylor Made Stallions. This included financial backing during the founding years, most notably through the purchase and management of Saint Ballado.“The Jones breeding program set a standard that few will ever equal,” said Taylor Made's Frank Taylor. “Aaron and Marie believed in quality, patience, and doing things the right way. They produced champions, but more importantly, they built a legacy that changed the Thoroughbred industry. We were incredibly fortunate that they trusted Taylor Made from our earliest days, and Marie will always hold a special place in the history of our farm.”Together with her late husband, Jones created a program that yielded the likes of Hall of Famer Ashado; champion sprinter and top sire Speightstown; champion older mare Riboletta; multiple Grade I winner Drosselmeyer; and many other graded stakes winners. The program's latest success is MGISW Ted Noffey (Into Mischief).“Throughout her life, Marie was known for her integrity, generosity, and unwavering commitment to the Thoroughbred industry,” Taylor Made said in the press release. “Her influence extended far beyond the winners' circle through the horses she bred, the relationships she built, and the example she set for generations of breeders and owners.“Taylor Made extends its deepest condolences to the Jones family, their many friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing Marie. Her legacy will continue to inspire the Thoroughbred industry for generations to come.”The post Industry Icon and Prominent Breeder Marie Jones Passes appeared first on TDN | Thoroughbred Daily News | Horse Racing News, Results and Video | Thoroughbred Breeding and Auctions.
