I once helped a friend with a situation like this for an evening. First I had to learn about controlling a fall, because if they need help, a fall will happen eventually, and your job once it starts is to get them to the floor uninjured, is what I was told. In my case, I could then call staff for help getting him back up and into bed, because he was twice my size. So what I wonder is, what help will this caregiver have access to when mom takes a tumble? Or maybe this daughter is realizing she needs a second person around all the time? That “being taken care of” 2/3 of the month will quickly look like being woken at all hours of the day — remember, mom’s a night owl so they need someone who will also stay up until oh-god-thirty — to “give me a quick hand with this.”
