This weekend, Disneyland Resort began refurbishing its family-friendly ride inspired by The Little Mermaid (1989). On social media, the outlet shared this photo of the attraction facade surrounded by plywood walls:The plywood barriers run from the main attraction entrance and down the right side of the building. Behind the construction walls on the right side, almost the entire facade is engulfed by scaffolding and covered with a black scrim fabric. Only a door exclusively for use by Disney cast members remains visible on that side of the building, surrounded by scaffolding and scrim.Credit: Ed Aguila, Inside the MagicUnlike the plywood construction walls, the scaffolding and scrim do not extend into the main entrance to The Little Mermaid ~ Ariel’s Undersea Adventure. The towering columns and decorated walls at the entrance to Paradise Gardens Park remain visible to guests as they walk through.Despite what is clearly an extensive refurbishment project, The Little Mermaid ~ Ariel’s Undersea Adventure remains open to guests at Disney California Adventure Park.
