The drama behind the scenes of Dutton Ranch has been making a lot of headlines recently, as Ed Harris called out the way his role turned out in the show and both Kelly Reilly and Cole Hauser spoke about how hard this series is to make. Everything is all good now, and they’re excited for Season 2. Meanwhile, over on Yellowstone’s other spinoff, Marshals, there’s a bit of drama as a star admitted that part of the crew was “upset” for “weeks” after one character death. While we should see all of the Marshals cast again when Season 2 premieres on the 2026 TV schedule (even if some of them – I’m looking at you, Cal and Belle – are in precarious situations), one character who won’t be around is Riley Green’s Garrett. He died during Season 1, and that’s why the crew was upset, as Andrea actress Ash Santos told People: Our hair-and-makeup team, especially, those women loved him. We had people on our crew who were so upset with [showrunner] Spencer [Hudnut] for weeks when they got that episode.(Image credit: Cam McLeod/CBS )Garrett died after a barn fire on Kayce’s ranch in Marshals, and while I assume he could always come back in flashbacks, we will not be seeing him again in the present. I doubt we’ll be seeing him on the show anytime soon, though, because Riley Green is a busy guy. He’s a very successful country singer, and he’s a new coach on The Voice. Although it sounds like the hair and makeup team is ready to campaign for his return. Honestly, the singer might be too, as Santos divulged that Green was joking about “hoping” he’d “stick around longer.” However, again, with that schedule, it’s hard to do. Anyway, when it came time to say goodbye, the Garrett actor proved he loved the hair and makeup team as much as they loved him, as Santos said: He's very sweet. He was so kind to our cast and our crew. I mean, the day that he wrapped, he was flying out — he was performing in a show that night — and while he was getting in the car, he was already having flowers delivered for the hair-and-makeup team to say thank you.Well, it’s no wonder they were upset for weeks when he got killed off. I’d feel that way too!To that point, as a fan of Marshals, I am quite bummed Garrett died. For years, I’ve been saying I wanted to learn more about Kayce’s military background, and Green’s character, alongside Logan Marshall-Green’s Cal, gave us that. However, with the singer gone, I’ll be curious to see how this history is explored in the present day. With all that said, the show must go on. Yes, it’s a bummer Riley Green’s character died, and yes, it’s an even bigger bummer that the hair and makeup team was distraught over it. However, Season 2 of Marshals is bound to be a wild and entertaining ride.
