Malta International Airport handled 1,187,590 passengers in July, marking a 14.7% increase compared to the same month last year. The airport also recorded a seat load factor of 87.6%, showing strong demand despite a 17.4% increase in available seat capacity. The growth was supported by an average of 108 flights a day throughout the month, reflecting another busy summer for Malta’s aviation sector. For the first time since February, Italy became Malta’s largest source market, accounting for just over one in every five passengers travelling through the airport, overtaking the United Kingdom following increased summer flight capacity.Poland continued its impressive growth, with passenger numbers rising by almost 50% compared to last year, while Germany and France ranked fourth and fifth respectively. Both markets saw a slight decline in traffic, which Malta International Airport attributed to reduced flight frequencies on several routes. With the summer season in full swing, July marked another milestone for Malta International Airport as passenger numbers continued to climb.•
