Teya, the financial services provider supporting local businesses across Europe, has been selected by the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) for its Scale-up Unit, as one of five fast-growing and innovative UK firms chosen to receive tailored regulatory support that enables continued sustainable growth. The Scale-up Unit was launched in October 2025 to strengthen engagement with fast-growing, innovative regulated firms. Teya’s cohort are the first participants in the Unit's solo-regulated track, after the FCA and the Prudential Regulation Authority (PRA) accepted six dual-regulated firms in February. Firms selected receive a dedicated point of regulatory contact and help across four areas - regulatory processes, product innovation, the impact of new policy proposals and sector engagement.Founded in 2019, Teya now serves over 75,000 local businesses across nine European markets, including more than 30,000 in the UK, and employs c.1,500 people. With further product innovation and geographic expansion planned, Teya is well-positioned to continue scaling at pace, both in the UK and internationally. Tom Mylrea-Lowndes, General Counsel & Head of Corporate and Regulatory Affairs at Teya, said: “Being accepted into the Scale-up Unit represents a meaningful opportunity for us to harness the FCA's resources and expertise, and will help us realise our ambitions for growth and product innovation. We are looking forward to deepening our relationship with the FCA and working together to bring the best financial technology to all high-street businesses. Our long-term vision is to be serving one million local businesses, which we will only reach by constantly enhancing our product offering according to their needs. Initiatives like these from the FCA can provide the runway needed to turn homegrown UK success stories into global champions.” Teya’s selection for the FCA’s Scale-up Unit follows the recent release of major product upgrades, including a new Business Account that allows business-owners to automate spend management, earn cashback on their team members’ day-to-day spending and manage everything through one app, as well as Teya Pro, next-generation card machines that complete transactions in under 1.7 seconds.NoYesInfrastructure10 Aug, 2026
