A TikTok creator from Pennsylvania says he weighed his Chipotle chicken order with a food scale after employees told him his portion was correct. The video, posted by Isaac (@ijmdz), has been viewed more than 3 million times and gained over 554,000 likes since it went up. In the video, Isaac says he ordered double chicken through the Chipotle app. He explains that a standard scoop of chicken is 4 ounces, so a double order should come out to 8 ounces total. When he opened the container at the restaurant, he said it looked like far less than what he paid for. He questioned an employee about the portion and later used a food scale from his gym bag to check the amount himself. Employee tells customer the portion was correct before scale is used In the video, Isaac says he noticed the small amount of chicken as soon as he opened the container. “I open the pan when I get there because you got to, and it’s like 4 pieces of chicken,” he said. He said he brought up the issue with an employee in a calm way. “I was like, yo, respectfully too, and nice. I was like, hey, you know, this don’t look like double chicken. I pay for double chicken. We can’t give you more,” Isaac said. He also said he then challenged the employee directly. “I said, you want to bet that it’s not double chicken?” he said. He explained that he left the food container at the counter, walked to his car, and grabbed a food scale from his gym bag. When he weighed the chicken, Isaac said the scale showed 3.2 ounces. “Each scoop is 4 ounces. So if I pay for 2 of it, that means 8 ounces should be on my scale,” he said, pointing out the difference between what he paid for and what he received. Isaac posted a follow-up video on TikTok a few days later titled “PT 2 of the chipotle saga,” giving an update on what happened after his first video was posted. He said a manager came out to address the situation. He said the manager then added “a little quarter of chicken” and asked if it was enough. Disputes over restaurant portion sizes are not isolated, as a Georgia man recently weighed chicken on Walmart’s own scale and found it was nearly a quarter pound underweight. Isaac said he considered his response before deciding to leave without further conflict. “I decided to take my L. Ball up top, move on,” he said. He added that he closed his container and left the restaurant. According to Isaac, Chipotle reached out to him after the first video went viral and sent him links to file a dispute. He said neither link worked. “Nothing worked. Whatever, cool. Both links didn’t work. It is what it is. I moved on,” he said. Isaac said the experience changed where he chose to eat afterward. “I wanted Chipotle. But instead I went and got Chick-fil-A because at least I know there I’m not gonna get f–ked played,” he said, adding that he felt Chipotle was “playing with my f–king money.” The videos drew a large number of comments from viewers, many of whom said they related to the situation. One commenter wrote, “why do the employees act like it’s them paying for it?!?” Another commenter wrote, “nah..that was an audit. good job.” A person who said they used to work at Chipotle wrote, “as an ex chipotle employee, you are completely valid for this.” Another comment read, “Paying double & not even getting one serving IS CRIMINAL IN THIS ECONOMY.” Such skepticism over portion sizes has led other customers to question their orders, as when a California man allegedly walked out after watching his bowl being filled.
