McDonald’s has teased a line of Hello Kitty and Godzilla collaboration Happy Meal toys. They’ll appear in US-based branches on August 18, 2026. The short trailer for the campaign features a Happy Meal box sitting on a boat floating at sea. Then, Hello Kitty, dressed as Godzilla, emerges from the water and approaches the ship. Finally, the date of the campaign appears on the horizon. The marketing line for this campaign is “cute meets kaiju,” and there’s no official information right now whether cute will be meeting kaiju in locations outside of the United States. This is not the first time that cute has met kaiju, though! Toho and Sanrio previously released merchandise of major Sanrio mascots dressed up as different versions of Godzilla. These came out in Japan on July 22, 2026. That being said, it’s unclear whether we’ll be seeing the exact same mascot-and-kaiju pairs in the McDonald’s Happy Meals as in the original Toho and Sanrio collaboration. We’ll have to wait for more details from the fast food chain. The Hello Kitty and Godzilla toys will appear in McDonald’s Happy Meals across the United States on August 18, 2026. There is no official information on whether these toys will appear in locations like Canada or Mexico, and we will have to wait until it’s closer to the release date of the campaign to see all the toys.
