A couple’s gender reveal celebration took an unexpected turn when their housecat launched an attack shortly after they learned the results. TikTok creator Zanapanchana (@zanapanchana) shared the video, which shows the couple opening their test results and reacting excitedly before the cat suddenly becomes aggressive. The video begins with the couple preparing to look at the results. The creator explains that they are about to find out whether they are having a boy or a girl. They then review the medical information and react to negative screening results, including a negative result for Down syndrome. The mood quickly changes. After celebrating the results, the cat attacks. The couple can be heard yelling for water as they try to stop the animal. The couple repeatedly tells the cat to go to another room as they try to end the attack. The unusual sequence prompted viewers to comment on the timing. One commenter joked that the cat was “waiting for y’all moment of happiness.” Another commenter, identifying as a “hardcore cat lady,” urged the couple to rehome the animal before the baby arrives. But Zanapanchana later provided additional context in the video’s caption. According to her explanation, the cat came into their lives as a kitten after someone found her alone on the side of the road. She said the cat had no mother or siblings nearby, leaving her unsure about what the animal experienced before the rescue. @zanapanchana Gender reveal gone WRONG #fyp #genderreveal Not that I owe anyone an explanation, BUT. This cat was rescued as a kitten all alone on the side of the road no mom no siblings in sight. So I have no idea what happened to her or what she went through before we got her. She has been taken to the vet regularly and has been spayed. This video is from JANUARY. Starting in November of 2025 we found out I was pregnant; simultaneously there was construction being done around our house (we rent so it was not our choice) the cat was stressed from the construction and attacking us (mostly me..the pregnant lady) on a weekly basis. The water was not being used as “punishment” It was used so she would LET GO during an attack. We have taken her to the vet and she is now on anxiety medication and has not attacked since. Also, notice she was NOT protecting me she was coming for MY FACE and my husbands arm happened to be there to block it THANK GOD and God bless his poor arm which was RIPPED TO SHREDS. ♬ Saxophones getting louder – Sped Up – AntonioVivald Zanapanchana also said the cat regularly saw a veterinarian and had been spayed. Though she shared it in July 2026, she explained that the video dates to January. She said she learned she was pregnant in November 2025, around the same time construction began around the couple’s rental home. According to her account, the construction appeared to stress the cat, which she said began attacking the couple weekly, with most of the attacks directed at her. She also addressed the use of water during the incident. According to Zanapanchana, the water was not intended as punishment. Instead, she said the couple used it to make the cat release her during an attack. Zanapanchana also disputed the idea that the cat was trying to protect her from her husband. Zanapanchana explained that the animal appeared to be coming toward her face while her husband’s arm got in the way. She said the attack left her husband’s arm badly injured. There is some veterinary context for the behavior described in the post. The American Animal Hospital Association (AAHA) says cats can display signs of fear or stress through changes in posture, vocalization, and activity. The Ohio State University Indoor Pet Initiative likewise identifies changes and events around a cat’s home as potential stressors. It notes that particularly sensitive cats can develop behavioral problems, including aggression, when they experience stressful changes. Zanapanchana said the couple subsequently took the cat to a veterinarian. According to her caption, the cat now receives anxiety medication and had not attacked again at the time she posted the explanation.
