A frustrated Sandro Tonali sparked an angry scuffle during what was a not-so-friendly friendly between Tottenham and Getafe.Tonali, who joined Spurs from Newcastle for £100m earlier this summer, was angered by a challenge from Mario Martin.Tonali was not happy with a kick he received from Getafe’s MartinAfter the Italian midfielder pushed Martin over when winning back possession, the latter reacted with a late dig. As the Getafe star looked to regain the ball, he left a leg in as Tonali passed the ball forward, catching his opponent. And that left Tonali furious as he then pushed Martin back and lost focus on the game, having all eyes on his rival. He chased him and grabbed Martin’s shoulder to turn him around, pushing him again multiple times, with one of them to the neck. That caused a melee in the centre of the pitch, as players from both teams swamped around the two players. Ben Davies rushed over to defend Tonali, with Archie Gray, Jan Paul van Hecke and Andy Robertson all jumping in too.Robertson also had a quick pushing match with a Getafe player before things eventually calmed down in the ‘friendly’. Tonali and Martin avoided a booking for the incident.‘If you get kicked, you’re going to react’Post-match, Tonali was defended for his reaction that sparked the scrap, as Getafe took things too far in pre-season.Van Hecke admitted that things got a bit too aggressive in the friendly that was being played behind closed doors.Tonali won the ball back but then got caught by a late challenge from his opponentThe Italian then ran after Martin and pushed him multiple timesView Tweet: https://t.co/XTGblesDyj“Sometimes it’s good [to have a physical game],” he admitted.“I thought today was a bit too much. A bit from their side, sometimes it’s not necessary, especially in a friendly.“I think in a normal game maybe they have two or three red cards. “But that’s also maybe the way they play. We knew beforehand that they can do it.“But then it’s a friendly, so sometimes you think maybe a bit less, but on the other side we also need to be at our top then because if you don’t put in your foot then they are going to win it.“If that’s what the game asks, you also need to put your foot in and battle with them, otherwise they win the battles. Spurs and Getafe players swarmed around Tonali and Martin as things got heated“That’s what you don’t want, that’s the first thing in football you need to win. “You saw sometimes it got a bit heated, but that’s because of the reaction, if you get kicked, then you’re going to react.”Tottenham drew with Getafe in the feisty affair on Saturday as Conor Gallagher netted following Alberto Risco’s opener. They now only have one more pre-season game to play before the Premier League campaign kicks off on August 22.Spurs take on Hoffenheim at 3pm on Saturday, August 15 next.
