'TDN Rising Star, presented by Hagyard' and GISW Brant (Gun Runner–Tynan, by Liam's Map) has been retired from racing and will take up stud duty at Hill 'n' Dale at Xalapa for 2027, the farm announced Saturday.A record-setting $3-million purchase as a 2-year-old at OBS March for Zedan Racing, Brant was named a 'Rising Star' for his Del Mar debut last July and backed that honor up with a win next out in the GI Del Mar Futurity, defeating GSW Desert Gate (Omaha Beach) and Litmus Test (Nyquist). He finished out his juvenile campaign running third to Eclipse champion Ted Noffey (Into Mischief) in the GI Breeders' Cup Juvenile at Del Mar in November.Out of a Liam's Map mare who is a half-sister to the dam of Grade II winner Pappacap, himself Grade I-placed in the Breeders' Cup Juvenile, the Woody Stephens and the American Pharoah, Brant becomes Gun Runner's 10th son to enter stud in Kentucky.“We are very excited to add Brant, by Gun Runner, to our young roster where he will join our newest additions, Arabian Knight, by Uncle Mo and Barnes, by Into Mischief,” said John Sikura, President of Hill 'n' Dale at Xalapa. “He is a beautiful horse who covers the ground effortlessly. He was both a standout sale horse selling for $3,000,000 and a standout racehorse having won a Grade I at two.
