Medical College, identified as Dr. Kanike Priyanka, died on Friday, three days after she was declared 'brain dead'.Dr. Priyanka was declared dead on Friday afternoon in a private hospital in Hyderabad, G.S.L. hospital authorities confirmed with The Hindu. A native of the Kurnool district, Priyanka enrolled in the first year of the Doctor of Medicine program in February 2026.On the night of August 3, two youths reportedly hit Dr. Priyanka with a car twice before ramming into her while she was going out of the mall. She sat on the two-wheeler while her friend was riding it when the incident occurred at around 10 p.m."Dr. Priyanka was immediately rushed to a private hospital owned by the GSL group, where she was declared brain-dead", added GSL hospital management.The next day, Dr Priyanka was referred to a private hospital in Hyderabad, as per her parents' wishes.Rajamahendravaram City MLA Adireddy Srinivas (Vasu) has stated: "The accused have been identified as S. Daswanth and Andrew Joseph Edwards. They have been arrested. A case under the BNS 125 (A) has been registered".When contacted by The Hindu on August 7, East Godavari SP D. Narasimha Kishore and Central Zone In-Charge DSP A.
