Proposed strike by cabbies and gig workers in Telangana called off after breakthrough in talks - The HinduPublished - August 07, 2026 10:08 pm ISTProposed strike by gig and platform workers’ unions in Telangana has been put off following discussions between the worker unions and the Telangana government on Friday and assurances by the latter. The strike was scheduled to begin on August 8.Minister for Labour, Employment, Training and Factories and Mines and Geology G. Vivek Venkatswamy chaired talks with worker unions on issues relating to workers welfare, social security and other pending demands.The Minister said the government was committed to protecting the rights of gig workers and was in the process of framing guidelines for implementing the Telangana Gig Workers Welfare Act, which would be notified shortly.
