Digital asset liquidity provider B2C2 has appointed Jason Lai, the former Chairman of Schroders Wealth Management Asia, as a Senior Advisor based in Singapore. The move is aimed at deepening the firm's relationships with funds, asset managers and family offices across the Asia-Pacific region.A Strategic Move to Tap the WealthyLai built his reputation in Asia's independent wealth industry as the founder of Thirdrock Group in 2009. Schroders, the FTSE 100 asset manager, acquired Thirdrock in 2019. He then ran Schroders' Asian Wealth Management unit as CEO before being named Chairman, a post he held until his deperture earlier in 2026.His arrival comes as private wealth in Asia increasingly turns toward digital assets. Boston Consulting Group projects that assets under management in the region will hit $99 trillion by 2029, with Singapore and Hong Kong anchoring the growth. Separately, Goldman Sachs has found that around a third of family offices worldwide already hold crypto in their portfolios. Blockchain-based transaction volumes in Asia grew 69 percent year on year through June 2025, the fastest pace of any region, according to OECD data cited in the announcement."Asia's wealthiest families and managers are increasingly investing in digital assets," said Lai. "B2C2 has the liquidity and execution infrastructure this client base needs. I'm looking forward to helping the firm build the trusted bridge between institutional wealth and digital markets in this region."Read more: B2C2 CEO Says “MiCA's Short-Term Negative Impacts Can Lead to Greater Crypto Adoption”B2C2's Asia PushThe hire extends a run of expansion moves B2C2 has made in Asia-Pacific since Rogers took over the regional CEO role. Finance Magnates earlier reported that B2C2 opened a Singapore office and applied for a Major Payment Institution licence in the city-state back in 2024, with Rogers, a 24-year industry veteran who previously worked at State Street, Goldman Sachs and UBS, leading operations from that base. The firm has since added Laura Teo as Singapore Country Head, tasked with leading commercial strategy across Asia-Pacific after roles at Standard Chartered, Barclays and Morgan Stanley.B2C2 has been under Japanese financial group SBI Holdings' ownership since 2020. Company financials reported by Finance Magnates show the scale of that relationship: B2C2 generated JPY 57.14 billion in revenue in the fiscal year ended March 2024, an 88.5 percent jump from the prior year, and turned a pre-tax profit of JPY 8.4 billion, with SBI attributing the growth to the firm's customer base expansion strategy. B2C2 does not serve retail clients and operates strictly on a business-to-business basis. The Lai appointment also follows B2C2's broader push into institutional crypto infrastructure. The firm recently became a liquidity provider on TP ICAP's Fusion Digital Assets venue under a matched principal model, part of a wider build-out of electronic trading infrastructure that TP ICAP has been pursuing across asset classes. This article was written by Arnab Shome at www.financemagnates.com.
