Malta got a front-row seat to a partial solar eclipse last night, with skywatchers across the islands turning their eyes towards the horizon for the rare celestial event.The eclipse was visible from 7.41pm until sunset, reaching its maximum at around 7.52pm, when approximately 12% of the Sun was covered by the Moon.Photos captured from around Malta show the Moon taking a noticeable bite out of the Sun’s disc as the eclipse unfolded in the final minutes before sunset.While Malta only experienced a partial eclipse, the event still offered a striking sight and gave photographers and astronomy enthusiasts a chance to capture a phenomenon that doesn’t come around every day.The eclipse also served as a reminder that an even more dramatic event is on the horizon.
