Over a fifth of the electors in Telangana might get deleted in SIR - The HinduUpdated - August 10, 2026 10:28 pm IST - HYDERABADMore than a fifth of the electors throughout Telangana are likely to be deleted in the draft electoral rolls to be published at the end of the enumeration phase of the Special Intensive Revision of Electoral Rolls in the State.Around the same number of electors who submitted the form might receive notices from the office of the Electoral Registration Officers for verification.The enumeration phase ends at midnight of August 10, 2026, after two extensions since July 24, 2026. Draft electoral rolls will be published after a week, on August 17, 2026.As at 6 p.m. on the final day, a total 73,47,075 enumeration forms have been categorised as ‘Uncollectable’, which, the Chief Electoral Officer C. Sudharshan Reddy has explained, are the forms not returned by the electors. They constitute close to 22% of the total State electorate.In addition, a total 2,85,571 electors have been identified as Absent, Shifted and Dead, while 3,21,151 names have been identified as Demographically Similar Entries, which indicate duplication of the name. These two categories too will not find place in the draft electoral rolls.Of the total 3,38,26,448 electoral forms claimed to have been distributed, only 2,64,73,616 forms, accounting for 78.26%, have been returned to the Booth Level Officers. This number includes 11,33,692 forms filled online by the electors.In the forms collected back, electoral officials have found 60,69,065 anomalies or logical discrepancies, which amount to almost 23% of the forms submitted. All these electors will receive notices from the EROs starting from August 17, 2026. Hearings will be conducted up to October 15, 2026 along with settlement of claims and objections, before final electoral rolls are published on October 19, 2026.Adilabad accounted for maximum anomalies at 28.49% when calculated on the total electorate, and almost 33% when calculated on the forms collected. It is followed by Wanaparthy with 27.83% anomalies of the total electorate, and 32% of the forms collected.State capital topped the list in terms of uncollectable forms, which stood at 41.09%, while anomalies were only 14.18% here. Medchal Malkajgiri district recorded 36.01% uncollectable forms and 11.15% anomalies, while Ranga Reddy district recorded 34.78% uncollectable forms and 15.13% anomalies.Yadadri Bhongir has topped in terms of collection of forms, at 94.31%, with Hyderabad recording the least at 58.92%.
