Shaka Hislop has spoken about Arsenal’s transfer window and urged the Gunners to pursue Julian Alvarez now that they have missed out on signing Vinicius Junior.The Gunners were keen to add Vinicius to their squad this summer and did all they could to convince the Brazilian, but he opted to extend his contract at Real Madrid. He was expected to be Arsenal’s marquee signing, but the Gunners have now missed out on securing him, as some of their fans had expected.Vinicius remains in Madrid, but Arsenal can still sign an attacker from the Spanish capital as they remain keen on Alvarez, who is also expected to stay at Atletico.Arsenal still want AlvarezThe Spanish side do not want to sell him, and they have rejected big money bids from Real Madrid and Barcelona for his signature in recent weeks. They see him as a player who simply has to stay in their team, so it will not be easy for Arsenal to add him to their squad.However, former Newcastle United star Hislop wants the Gunners to sign the World Cup winner, despite the arrival of Victor Gyokeres. His comments suggest he still believes Arsenal need another elite option in attack if they want to strengthen their squad further.Hislop makes Alvarez claimAs quoted by ESPN, Hislop said:“I still think Arsenal are in need of a world-class centre forward.While they won the league with Gyokeres as their number nine, if I had a blank chequebook right now, the name that comes to mind is Julian Alvarez.”Hislop believes Arsenal would benefit from adding another world-class centre forward, despite having Gyokeres leading the attack. Alvarez remains a difficult target because Atletico do not want to sell him, but Arsenal could still explore the possibility of bringing him to the Emirates.The Gunners have already missed out on Vinicius, leaving Alvarez as another potential option from the Spanish capital.
