Walt Disney World Resort is pressing full steam ahead with its ongoing exterior refurbishment and repainting of the Twilight Zone Tower of Terror attraction at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. Let’s take a look at the latest updates on the construction project, which began earlier this summer.Twilight Zone Tower of Terror RefurbishmentCredit: Patrick McGarvey, FlickrIn early July, scaffolding first appeared above the gift shop at the exit to the Twilight Zone Tower of Terror. Over the last month, the scaffolding slowly crawled from that part of the building, across the side, and toward the front of the Hollywood Tower Hotel facade.Disney appears to be repainting the attraction’s exterior, as some parts of the building are a much brighter pink and have yet to receive the intentionally aged-and-worn treatment the rest of the facade has. These updates come after an extensive Twilight Zone Tower of Terror queue refurbishment in May. Following that project, Disney removed the flags above the gift shop and installed scrim fabric over several decorative elements on the building.Construction UpdateCredit: DisneyLast week, WDWNT shared an update on the ongoing refurbishment, revealing that Disney had shifted the scaffolding to the front of the attraction facade. Repainting work continues. The scaffolding has now reached the elevator shafts under the “Hollywood Tower Hotel” lettering. For now, the construction equipment does not obstruct guests’ view of Disney’s Hollywood Studios when the windows open during the ride.Credit: Michael Gray, FlickrOver by the gift shop, where the scaffolding first appeared, crews appear to have painted gray-and-white primer on the roof and the wall of the right faux balcony. The black tarp taped over the decorative windows on the building appears to be protecting them from the ongoing construction work.Despite the ongoing construction, the Twilight Zone Tower of Terror remains open for guests to enjoy. Walt Disney World Resort has not announced a refurbishment closure for the 32-year-old drop ride at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. What do you think about the ongoing construction on the Twilight Zone Tower of Terror at Disney’s Hollywood Studios?
