A former Walt Disney World Resort cast member has been charged with grand theft and robbery after authorities say she allegedly stole 100 items worth over $2,100 from the World of Disney store at Disney Springs. The former employee of Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park reportedly walked out of the store with the stolen goods before changing into a disguise, allegedly to evade detection by law enforcement.Former Disney Cast Member Charged With Grand TheftCredit: DisneyOn June 12, the Orange County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report that 28-year-old Cynthia Elizabeth Molina allegedly stole 100 items from World of Disney, valued at $2,193. According to the incident report, a World of Disney cast member first noticed Molina standing near a jewelry display with “a large reusable bag,” “ripping locked up bracelets off the hooks and placing them in her ‘already very full bag.’”In accordance with company policy, the World of Disney cast member notified a manager, and the two began following Molina around the store. Eventually, the manager confronted Molina, “touched her right arm (which was holding the bag) and advised how she needed to pay for the merchandise.”Credit: DisneyMolina reportedly pushed the manager and “shrugged him off as she left the store.” At this point, the World of Disney manager contacted Walt Disney World Resort security.Surveillance cameras inside World of Disney show that the manager “lightly [tapped] the back of her right arm (the same side holding the unpaid merchandise).” Molina was seen “brushing off his hand despite him being in Disney uniform, with badge and credentials being worn.”Molina Puts on A DisguiseWhen Molina left World of Disney, she was wearing a Toy Story (1995) shirt. She headed to Raglan Road, an Irish Pub at Disney Springs, and later emerged wearing a different shirt, her hair up in a bun. However, both employees who interacted with the 28-year-old woman at World of Disney identified her as the same person who had the large reusable bag full of stolen merchandise.Credit: DisneyWhen confronted by authorities, Molina refused to answer questions. She requested the security camera footage from World of Disney, alleging that the manager touched her first.Inside Molina’s reusable bag, authorities found “Mickey Mouse plush, pencils in a variety of colors, various stationery pouches, jewelry consisting of bracelets and necklaces and other trinkets, phone straps and additional Walt Disney World miscellaneous items.”Arrest and ChargesMolina was arrested and taken to the Orange County Jail.
