CPB: Deep Value Meets a Monthly BUY Campbell's CompanyBATS:CPBstouflacrucoCPB has fallen to roughly $22–23, near the bottom of a multi-decade trading range and far below the $50+ levels seen as recently as 2023. The Master Buy Scanner V2 has now moved to a 3/3 monthly BUY, with deeply oversold momentum, synchronized bands and an unusually attractive valuation. But there is an important contradiction: the technical score is excellent, while Campbell’s operating performance is still under pressure. Master Buy Scanner V2 — Monthly Score: 3/3 Action: BUY / BUILD Decision: INVEST BUY state: WAIT CLOSE Entry quality: EXCELLENT — 100% Position size: FULL 100% WT cross: YES Band 1: GREEN Combined: GREEN 6/10 Bands synchronized: YES Cycle: ACTIVE WT1 / WT2: -56.37 / -58.51 Technically, this is a strong long-term configuration. Both WT lines are deeply oversold, the bullish cross has occurred, Band 1 is green and the lower bands are synchronized. The main caution is WAIT CLOSE, while setup maturity remains FAILED. So despite the 100% entry-quality reading, I would still want the monthly configuration to hold rather than automatically treating the current level as a completed bottom. Fundamentals explain the collapse Campbell’s Q3 FY2026 was weak: Net sales: $2.37B, -4% Organic sales: -4% Adjusted EBIT: -24% Adjusted EPS: $0.50, -32% Adjusted gross margin: 27.7%, -240 bps Inflation, tariffs, supply-chain costs and weaker volumes are putting significant pressure on profitability. Both Meals & Beverages and Snacks saw organic sales fall 4%. Management nevertheless reaffirmed FY2026 guidance for organic sales to decline 1–2%, adjusted EBIT to fall 17–20%, and adjusted EPS of $2.15–$2.25. So this is clearly not a growth-stock BUY. It is a valuation-and-recovery setup. The brands still have value Campbell’s portfolio includes Campbell’s, Goldfish, Pepperidge Farm, Prego, Swanson, V8 and—importantly—Rao’s. The company says Campbell’s, Rao’s and Swanson continue to benefit from at-home cooking demand, while Snacks is showing early signs of improvement. Management is also pushing cost reduction harder. Campbell had achieved $200M of savings by Q3 toward a fiscal 2028 target of $375M, with those savings intended partly to offset inflation and tariffs. That gives the turnaround a relatively simple thesis: Stabilize volume + recover margins + monetize cost savings + continue growing Rao’s. Valuation is now compelling The scanner gives CPB 5.5/7 on valuation: Cash yield: 10.14% Business-price multiple: 8.02 Cash-flow multiple: 18.62 Earnings multiple: 11.08 Profit/share: $2.03 At these levels, Campbell no longer needs strong growth to justify the valuation. Even stabilization could potentially create upside. The scanner also gives business quality 2.5/3, with profitability and cash generation remaining healthy despite the current pressure. But debt matters The main financial weakness is leverage. Campbell reported approximately $6.15B of long-term debt plus $864M of short-term borrowings at the end of Q3. The scanner reflects that: Debt/equity: 1.82 — ORANGE Debt/profit: RED That reduces flexibility and makes a sustained earnings recovery more important. A heavily indebted defensive company can remain cheap for a long time if volumes and margins continue deteriorating. Growth is the weak link The scanner gives growth only 2/4. That fits the operating picture. Campbell is not currently delivering meaningful top-line growth, and management expects FY2026 sales and earnings to decline. So the investment case is not: “Campbell is about to become a high-growth company.” It is: “Has the market already priced in too much deterioration?” At around $22–23, that question becomes increasingly interesting. Key technical levels Immediate support: $20–22 Major support: $18–20 First resistance: $24–25 Recovery confirmation: $28–30 Major resistance: $32–35 Structural recovery zone: $40+ Holding the $20–22 region while the monthly signal closes successfully would strengthen the thesis considerably. A recovery above $25, followed by a higher low, would be the first meaningful evidence that this is more than an oversold rebound. My classification: DEEP VALUE BUY — WITH TURNAROUND RISK CPB now combines: 3/3 monthly score Excellent 100% entry quality Confirmed WT cross Synchronized bands Green 6/10 Combined signal Attractive 5.5/7 valuation Strong consumer brands Significant cost-saving potential But also: Falling sales Falling adjusted earnings Margin pressure High leverage Weak growth score Monthly signal still marked WAIT CLOSE This is one of those cases where the valuation and technical setup are more bullish than the current fundamentals. Current verdict: BUY / BUILD — but I want the monthly close to confirm the bottom. What would you do? A) Start building around $22–23 B) Wait for the monthly BUY to fully confirm C) Wait for a recovery above $25 Master Buy Scanner V2: Not financial advice.
