The Sweet Gesture Rosie O’Donnell Gets From Tom Cruise Every Year (It’s NOT The Christmas Cake)

Wait 5 sec.

It’s no secret how much Rosie O’Donnell loves Tom Cruise, as the actor has been clear about her adoration of him since her talk show was on the air. And although the two haven’t had the opportunity to be on the big screen together, this hasn’t stopped the Digger star from showing love to O’Donnell. If you need any proof, just check out the sweet gesture the actor gets from Cruise every year. And before you guess, it’s NOT the Bundt cake he sends to celebs every Christmas. I always found O'Donell and Cruise's friendship interesting, as the two seemingly have very different world views. But a difference of opinion hasn’t stopped O’Donnell from being friends with someone before. While she has often spoken about how highly she thinks of him, she’s also been blunt about her feelings toward Scientology. In fact, she has praised King of Queens star Leah Remini as “a hero” for fighting against the religion. She brought up the Mission: Impossible actor and a fun fact about their friendship when SiriusXM asked if her “crush on Tom Cruise had abated” over the years:He has never missed my birthday or an event in my life. Now, I don’t know him enough to go, ‘Hey Tommy, it’s Ro. The Scientology thing. Can we chat?’ That’s not my relationship with Tom Cruise. I don’t have his home phone number. This may shock some people to know that not everyone knows each other in Hollywood. Though this proves how dedicated Cruise is to his kind gesture, despite their differences, which is similar to her previous friendships from The View. The actor often reflects on the infamous Elisabeth Hasselback fight that occurred on the show. Despite sharing very different political opinions, the two celebrities were friends until a disagreement over the Iraq War blew up at the end of their time together on the talk show. O’Donnell has spoken out about Scientology, calling it “a cult” that she doesn’t understand. Though she continues to praise Cruise, stating, “I will always love [him].” Additionally, she says that he's the “only person” who never missed her birthday in over 20 years. And each time she thinks the same thing: Every year, I think, ‘What a classy guy he is that he has never forgotten my birthday.’ A lot of people say to me, ‘It’s just his secretary.’ But I don’t believe that. I think he knows in early March, ‘Oh it’s Rosie’s birthday coming up.’ And he sends me something every single year for 25 years.Talk about commitment. While Cruise has an Alejandro G. Iñárritu film coming out this October, O’Donnell hasn’t done a ton of a film work in the last few years. But she has popped up here and there on TV, such as an appearance in Season 4 of Hacks and an episode of And Just Like That. And she was briefly rumored to be taking over Jimmy Kimmel’s late night show, which she quickly shut down. But she is open to returning to The View, despite what happened the last time she visited the daytime show. The actor got off to a tense start in 2014 with host Whoopi Goldberg and explained that they weren’t “as instantly compatible” as she hoped. But the actor would still love to return for the show’s milestone upcoming season in whatever way they want her back. Though she has yet to receive a formal invite for the planned 30th anniversary. Luckily for her generations of fans, Rosie does have a one woman show in New York called Common Knowledge, which you can currently buy tickets for. I wonder if she'll tell any Cruise stories?
