A late night at Disney’s Hollywood Studios is about to look a little different.Disney is moving Fantasmic! to an earlier time beginning August 23, 2026, shifting one of Walt Disney World’s biggest nighttime shows forward by 30 minutes. On nights when Disney offers two performances, both shows will also move earlier. It may sound like a relatively small scheduling adjustment. For guests trying to squeeze every possible attraction into a Hollywood Studios day, however, those 30 minutes could make a noticeable difference.Credit: Josh Hallett (hyku), FlickrFantasmic! Is Moving Earlier at Disney’s Hollywood StudiosBeginning August 23, the first performance of Fantasmic! will move from 9:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.When Disney schedules a second performance, that show will begin at 10:00 p.m. instead of the current 10:30 p.m. time. That means the upcoming schedule will generally look like this:Single-performance nights: 8:30 p.m.Select two-performance nights: 8:30 p.m. and 10:00 p.m.Disney’s schedule currently shows Fantasmic! operating at 9:00 p.m. and 10:30 p.m. before the change. Disney also reminds guests that entertainment times can change, so anyone visiting should check the My Disney Experience app on the day of their trip. The adjustment comes as daylight hours gradually decrease heading toward the latter portion of summer. An earlier sunset gives Disney the opportunity to begin its nighttime spectacular sooner. But there is another side to the change for guests.Your Hollywood Studios Day Could Effectively End EarlierFantasmic! isn’t the kind of show most guests can simply walk into at the exact start time and expect their choice of seats. The production takes place inside the large Hollywood Hills Amphitheater, and Disney encourages guests to arrive early. Disney says guests may enter as early as 90 minutes before a performance and recommends arriving early to secure a seat.In practical terms, many guests at Disney’s Hollywood Studios aiming for the 8:30 p.m. performance will likely want to start making their way toward the theater around 7:30 or 8:00 p.m., depending on expected crowds and how important their seating location is.That’s where a 30-minute showtime change becomes more important.Someone who previously planned to arrive for a 9:00 p.m. performance around 8:30 p.m. may now want to arrive around 8:00 p.m. for the 8:30 p.m. show.Effectively, that’s 30 fewer minutes for another ride, dinner, shopping, or simply exploring the park before settling in for Fantasmic! And when wait times are long, half an hour can easily represent the difference between squeezing in one final attraction and heading directly toward the amphitheater.Credit: Brittany DiCologero, Inside the MagicEarlier Fantasmic! Could Also Mean More Guests WaitingThe earlier time could affect crowds around the show as well.An 8:30 p.m. performance may fit more easily into the plans of families with young children and guests who don’t want to remain inside Hollywood Studios late into the night. That could potentially make the first performance especially appealing.Guests shouldn’t assume they’ll need to arrive exactly 60 minutes early every night, but waiting until the last minute comes with some risk. Fantasmic! remains one of the park’s major nighttime draws, and attendance can vary considerably depending on crowd levels. The second performance, when offered, could become an important alternative for guests who want to maximize attraction time.Choosing the 10:00 p.m. performance would allow visitors to continue enjoying Hollywood Studios while many other guests head toward the first show. Of course, that strategy only works on nights when Disney schedules two performances.Fantasmic! Remains a Hollywood Studios StapleFantasmic! has long served as one of the defining nighttime experiences at Walt Disney World. The roughly 29-minute production follows Mickey Mouse into a dream that eventually becomes a battle against Disney Villains. The massive production combines water effects, projections, pyrotechnics, characters, music, and live performers inside the Hollywood Hills Amphitheater.Disney’s current version also incorporates characters and scenes connected to movies including Moana (2016), Frozen 2 (2019), Mulan (1998), Aladdin (1992), Pocahontas (1995), Beauty and the Beast (1991), The Little Mermaid (1989), and The Lion King (1994).Because the amphitheater sits away from the park’s primary pathways, seeing Fantasmic! requires more of a time commitment than simply stopping somewhere to watch fireworks.Guests have to walk down Sunset Boulevard, enter the theater area, find seats, watch the 29-minute production, and then exit alongside thousands of other people. That makes the new start time something worth building into a touring plan.Credit: DisneyThe Change Begins August 23For guests visiting Disney’s Hollywood Studios later this month, August 23 is the date to remember.Fantasmic! moves to 8:30 p.m. beginning that night, with select double-performance evenings offering another show at 10:00 p.m.Thirty minutes may not look significant on a Disney schedule, but those minutes add up quickly during a theme park day.If Fantasmic! is a must-do, guests may need to begin wrapping up their evening attractions earlier than they did under the previous schedule. Those hoping to maximize every available minute should also pay close attention to nights with a second performance. As daylight continues to decrease, Disney can get Fantasmic! underway earlier. For guests, that means one of Hollywood Studios’ biggest nighttime traditions is staying put—but the strategy for fitting it into a packed park day is changing. The post Disney Confirms Long-Anticipated Changes to Iconic ‘Fantasmic’ Show, Effective August 23 appeared first on Inside the Magic.
