He’s happy with him, but again, obviously this is football and Dumfries is understood to be a strong competitor for Trent and he should deliver to keep his spot in the starting line-up.”Alexander-Arnold joined Real Madrid from Liverpool last summer and made 30 appearances in all competitions in his first campaign with the 15-time European champions.However, the 27-year-old has found it tough going adapting to his new club, enduring an injury-disrupted season which ended with him being left out of England‘s squad for the 2026 World Cup.And with Mourinho’s return to the Bernabeu and his reputation for defensive football, doubts had been raised over Alexander-Arnold’s future in the Spanish capital.Indeed, talkSPORT’s Angelina Kelly said earlier this month that Liverpool should be open to re-signing their academy graduate, whose departure from Anfield sparked an angry reaction from fans.“I’m not saying you’ve got to sign him immediately – let’s just explore this.
