Two people were treated for smoke inhalation after a fire at Kora beach club in Buġibba yesterday, with the establishment later issuing an official statement explaining what happened.According to the Civil Protection Department, firefighters from Station 3 responded to the incident and located the fire inside the complex’s waste storage room, before carrying out firefighting operations and making the area safe.A medical team from Mater Dei Hospital’s Emergency Department treated two people for smoke inhalation at the scene, with both subsequently discharged without needing to be taken to hospital.Police officers from the 11th District also assisted emergency crews during the operation.Following the incident, Kora issued an official statement, saying the fire occurred in a back-of-house area and was the result of an electrical fault.The establishment said its team, together with emergency services and police, responded immediately and brought the situation under control.Kora also confirmed that all guests and team members were safely evacuated, adding that the incident caused no major damage to the establishment.“A full assessment of the affected area is undergoing the necessary inspections to make sure the well-being of our guests and team members is safeguarded at all times,” it said.The establishment apologised for any inconvenience caused and thanked those who reached out with messages of concern and support following the incident.•
