The Lok Sabha has passed an amendment to the Public Examinations Act aimed at combating examination fraud and paper leaks. This new legislation raises the minimum prison sentence for these offenses from three years to five years while upping the maximum penalty to Rs 5 crore. Furthermore, companies involved in such malpractices could face a ban lasting up to eight years.
