Tottenham have less than a month before they kick off their 26–27 Premier League season, but how does their strongest XI look at the moment? Let’s find out.The focus for Tottenham Hotspur at the moment is to get through pre-season without any of their key players picking up major injuries. Roberto De Zerbi has made this clear and has constantly stated that he is focused on managing the fitness of his experienced players. That makes total sense with the Premier League now less than three weeks away from kicking off. Spurs were abysmal in the league last campaign, finishing 17th and only escaping relegation by their teeth. There needs to be a drastic improvement on that front, and so far this summer, work is being done to address it.Spurs have already secured six new additions, spending £237m, and De Zerbi has confirmed that there could still be two to three more signings to come. With the first game against Brentford not a long way out, we have now taken a look at the best Tottenham XI to start the 26-27 season.Credit: @reclusemedia / InstagramTottenham’s strongest XI for the new campaignThere is no other place to start than in goal. It is most certainly going to be Antonin Kinsky lining up between the sticks for Spurs next season as Guglielmo Vicario searches for a new club. The Czech international was key to Spurs’ survival last campaign and, having signed a new contract with Tottenham, it is clear that he has the trust of his manager and the club.In front of Kinsky would be a back four. Tottenham have strengthened in this area with the likes of Marcos Senesi, Jan Paul van Hecke and Andy Robertson all coming through the door. Each of these new signings adds extra quality to the Spurs defence, but of the three recruits, Jan Paul van Hecke is the one who makes the best XI to start the season. The Dutchman possesses immense quality and showcased his level while away with the Netherlands during the World Cup. He is certainly going to be Roberto De Zerbi’s man alongside Micky van de Ven in what would be an all‑Dutch partnership. At full-back, we have Pedro Porro and Destiny Udogie. Porro stands out as one of the best full-backs in the world at the moment following his World Cup campaign with Spain, where he was one of the highest‑rated players. While at left-back, Udogie offers versatility, being able to invert into midfield and hold the width – a skill set Robertson does not have in his arsenal. In the middle of the park, making our best XI to start the season, we have both Sandro Tonali and Mateus Fernandes. Fernandes has already caught the eye at Tottenham, with those within the club left impressed with the Portuguese. Tonali, on the other hand, brings experience, having featured in the Premier League in the last three seasons for Newcastle United. Both are big‑money signings and the expectation is that they go right into the side as Spurs search for immediate solutions. Tonali has hinted that both he and Fernandes could start in a double pivot, although he claims that he himself is more suited to being a number eight while Fernandes is a number six.Ahead of the two, we have James Maddison. The Englishman is rumoured to be the next captain for Spurs, with Cristian Romero very much set to leave Tottenham. Maddison brings some much‑needed creativity to the centre of the park and would play a big role in chance creation and linking the midfield and the attack. Spurs certainly did miss his creativity for most of last campaign.Up top is where we expect to see the next big changes, with Tottenham on the lookout for more forward additions. Depending on who is signed, this starting XI could look very different. However, based on the players currently at the club, the best forward line to start the season for Tottenham will be a front three of Mathys Tel, Dominic Solanke and Mohammed Kudus.Tel has been a bright spark in pre‑season so far, producing a goal and an assist for Tottenham. Solanke remains Spurs’ best option at centre‑forward, but his fitness issues continue to limit his involvement.Kudus is the natural right‑wing option at the club at the moment. He is still recovering from the injury he picked up last campaign, and once he returns, he will slot straight into Tottenham’s best XI.Our final best XI to start the season: Kinsky; Porro, Van Hecke, Van de Ven, Udogie; Tonali, Fernandes, Maddison; Kudus, Solanke, Tel.A more realistic XI based on fitness concernsIt is worth noting that while many of these players make up Spurs’ best XI, several of them may not be fit to start the season.Maddison continues to nurse a minor injury and has yet to kick a ball in pre-season, while Kudus has not begun training just yet.Udogie is also one De Zerbi has looked to manage this summer and might not be available to start from the off for Spurs next campaign. That could lead De Zerbi to rely on his fittest players at the start of the new season, meaning the XI could look very different. Here is a more realistic XI based on fitness, players returning from injury and lack of minutes so far in pre-season: Kinsky; Porro, Van Hecke, Van de Ven, Robertson; Tonali, Fernandes, Gallagher; Solomon, Richarlison, Tel.READ MORE: Ben Davies says one Tottenham summer signing will be ‘a big help’ to the squadThe post Tottenham’s strongest 2026/27 XI vs the most realistic XI to face Brentford on opening day appeared first on Spurs Web.
