Solar plant set up to help SCCL subsidiary APHMEL save on its energy bill - The HinduPublished - July 29, 2026 08:40 pm IST - HYDERABAD300 kW solar power plant set up by APHEML, a subsidiary of SCCL, at Vijayawada. | Photo Credit: By ArrangementHYDERABADChairman and Managing Director of Singareni Collieries Company Limited (SCCL) Buddhaprakash Jyoti virtually inaugurated the 300 Kilowatt (Kw) solar power plant established at the Andhra Pradesh Heavy Machinery & Engineering Limited (APHMEL), a subsidiary of SCCL at Vijayawada, from Singareni Bhavan here on Wednesday.The solar plant has been established as part of the company’s (APHMEL) golden jubilee celebrations. He also inaugurated the newly constructed CC and RCC internal roads developed to strengthen the plant’s infrastructure.Speaking on the occasion, the CMD said SCCL was moving ahead with a comprehensive plan to diversify and strengthen APHMEL along with its parent organisation. Complimenting the employees, Mr. Buddhaprakash Jyoti expressed happiness that APHMEL had achieved its highest-ever turnover of ₹63.13 crore and a record net profit of ₹23.33 crore in 2025-26, the best performance in the company’s 50-year history.He described the achievement as a result of the vision, guidance and encouragement from the State government (Telangana). He recalled that Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka had assured support for improving infrastructure at the plant, following which the CC and RCC internal roads were taken up and completed.Established on September 1, 1976, APHMEL has entered its Golden jubilee year, the CMD asked the management to focus on business diversification by exploring opportunities beyond the machinery, equipment and spare parts currently being manufactured, keeping in view the evolving requirements of various industries. The newly commissioned 300 Kw solar power plant was established at a cost of ₹1.24 crore. It was expected to reduce electricity expenditure by approximately ₹24 lakh every year. The investment was expected to be recovered within five years while also promoting renewable energy and environmentally sustainable practices.Chairman of APHMEL N.V.K.
