This week's column is highlighted by the victory of Pandora's Gift at Monmouth.The Gift That Keeps On GivingLSU Stables' Pandora's Gift (Churchill) has accrued several near misses since transferring to the U.S., and she finally found the winner's circle with a three-length score in Monmouth's Incredible Revenge Stakes for trainer Miguel Clement on Saturday (video).Bred by Rossenarra Bloodstock and a €28,000 Goffs Sportman's yearling, Pandora's Gift was trained by Stuart Williams for James Parry and partners. A listed winner at Chelmsford in 2024 for them, she went on to place in the G3 Ballyogan Stakes at Naas later that year. Williams raced her in his own name to be second in the GII Presque Isle Downs Masters Stakes that September in the States. Sent through the ring during the 2024 Keeneland Championship Sale, Pandora's Gift sold for $850,000 to her current owners. She would go on to finish second in the 2025 GIII Giant's Causeway Stakes at Keeneland. One of two winners for Amthaal (Exceed And Excel), Pandora's Gift is followed by a weanling colt by Dark Angel. Multiple group winner and G1 Al Quoz Sprint second Ertijaal (Oasis Dream) is kin to the winner.Pandora's Gift is the fifteenth winner from 26 runners (57%) for Coolmore stallion Churchill. She is his third stakes winner in the U.S. after GII Valley View Stakes heroine Poolside With Slim and Listed Possibly Perfect Stakes heroine Kentucky Gal.Too Darn Hot Mare Brings Australian FlavourGary Barber and Cayton Park Stud's Heat Missile (Too Darn Hot) made her American bow a winning one at Saratoga on Saturday (video). Bred by TR Ryan, the five-year-old mare is trained by Mark Casse.She sold for A$200,000 during the Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale in 2023. When campaigned in her native Australia, the dark bay won a trio of races, including a brace of handicaps before Saturday's performance. A daughter of South African champion juvenile filly and G1 Allan Robertson Championship heroine Entisaar (More Than Ready), Heat Missile is her fourth foal, one of five runners, and one of three winners for her dam.Too Darn Hot has been represented by eight winners from 18 runners in North American (44%). His pair of stakes winners there are anchored by GI Belmont Derby hero Title Role.Repeat WinnerMaking Waves regular Gold Phoenix (Belardo) continues to notch victories in his win column at the age of eight.
