And she made the most dumb decision to have the baby when not married. I’m going to get down voted for this. But the reality is, if you don’t want to live in/damn near poverty; Finish high-school. Get married. Have a kid. In that order. Out of that order, you are statistically more likely to live in poverty/close to poverty. And before someone comes at me with ‘I had a baby at 18 with my boyfriend, and he’s not around, and I’m doing just fine with a 16 year old now!!’ Good for you. I am proud of you. I am proud of your hustle. And also, you are the EXCEPTION, not the rule. (I’d also ask if you are married to someone now or still a single parent, but I digress).
