This week marked the release of Jared Leto: Hollywood’s Darkest Secret, a documentary produced by the BBC that focuses on the titular actor and musician. As part of that doc, 10 women apparently come forward and level claims against Leto (56). The Oscar winner has specifically been accused of sexual assault with some of the women also alleging that Leto had sex with them when they were underage. Now, Leto himself is speaking out in the aftermath of the allegations. With the release of the doc, the BBC released a statement, saying that it corroborated “a number of the women’s accounts with friends and family who were told about the encounters with Leto at the time.” The media organization also said it had obtained items such as photos and messages that “support the women’s accounts.” Leto’s representatives shared a statement with Variety, with which the actor denied the claims against him:I have never sexually assaulted anyone in my entire life. These claims are absolutely and categorically false. What should be made clear is that the Requiem for a Dream alum has not been formally charged with any offenses at this time. As of this writing, the BBC has also not provided any comment on Leto’s statement. Meanwhile, Jared Leto: Hollywood’s Dark Secret is not available to stream in the U.S., but a supplementary video can be found on one of the BBC’s YouTube channels.More to come...
