Two passersby were also injured during the incident.As per a report by the Dawn, the police said that Zubair Baloch was taken to the Civil Hospital in Karachi after he was shot. He sustained injuries on his chest and abdomen and was undergoing surgery. A social activist told Dawn that the attackers had covered their faces and fled when a nearby shopkeeper returned fire.South Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Syed Asad Raza told Dawn that Zubair Baloch was sitting outside his residence in Singu Lane, Lyari, when armed suspects on a motorcycle opened fire on him and fled the spot. The DIG said Zubair had been arrested in seven criminal cases in 2012 and was released in January 2025. The police is investigating the incident from multiple angles, including possible gang rivalry and personal enmity, says Dawn.Lyari residents fear return of gang violence after Zubair’s killingA social activist from Lyari told Dawn that Zubair Baloch had joined a “political party” a few months ago and had raised its flags in the area.
