District Civil Supplies Officer K. Srinivas said that while rice is given free of cost, ₹7 per kg is charged for wheat. The department has allotted 59,602.822 metric tonnes (MT) of rice and 7,279.513 MTs of wheat for distribution among 8,43,607 FSC (ration) card holders in the district, through 653 Fair Price Shops (FPS). People were urged to collect the food grains early to avoid being caught in a rush at the end of the month. Deadline extendedMeanwhile, the Civil Supplies Officer also informed that the deadline for eKYC of ration cards holders — which is used to validate details of the members in the FSC with the Aadhaar card — was extended to August 31, considering the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls and incessant rains.
